In October 2007, Waukesha Community Arts Project received its 501c(3) status and opened its doors to its first after-school program at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, which generously donated the use of their youth room. We started out with visual arts classes only two days a week for middle school students.

In 2012, WCAP received the Key to the City Award!

By 2013, we had expanded from two to five days a week with the help of the Heart of Canal Street Grant through Potawatomi Hotel and Casino. This allowed us to include classes in Creative Writing, Drama, and Dance in addition to Visual Arts.

In 2013 we also began our Leadership Through the Arts Program for high school students. In continues today with the help of the Women and Girls Fund and the Waukesha Service Club.

In 2015, we received the Outstanding Community Organization Award from the Wisconsin Association for the Talented and Gifted.

In 2016, we received a Service Award from the Waukesha Creative Arts League.

In 2017, we are celebrating our ten year anniversary! Please celebrate with us October 11th.

Over the years, we have received several other grants, sponsorships, and generous donations including those from the Les Paul Foundation, Waukesha County Community Foundation, Waukesha Rotary Club, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Anthony and Andrea Bryant Family Fund, and many others.

Thank you to everyone that has been a part of helping us serve the youth in Waukesha!

We have come this far because of you!
